Welcome to MusicalMinds. This document outlines the Terms of Service for music lessons provided by MusicalMinds, located in Wonderboom, Pretoria. These terms form a binding agreement between MusicalMinds (hereafter "us," "we," "our") and the student or their parent/guardian (hereafter "you," "the Client").
By paying the once-off admin fee and the first month's lesson fee, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by all terms and conditions outlined in this agreement.
MusicalMinds agrees to provide private, one-on-one music tuition at our premises in Wonderboom.
Instruments Offered: Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Ukulele, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Vocals, Recorder, and Concert Flute.
Languages: Lessons are available in Afrikaans or English.
Student Age: We accept students from 5 years old for piano and 7 years old for all other instruments.
2.1. Operating Hours: Lessons are scheduled strictly between Monday and Thursday, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
2.2. Exclusions: We do not offer lessons on Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays. Lessons are only provided at our premises; we do not offer home lessons.
2.3. Holiday Schedule: MusicalMinds operates according to the official Gauteng school calendar. We are closed during all school holidays, including the full, extended December–January holiday period. Lesson fees are structured to account for these closures (see Section 3.3).
2.4. Time Slots: A "time slot" is the specific, recurring weekly appointment allocated to you (e.g., Tuesday at 3:30 PM). We offer 30-minute and 1-hour time slots. This time is reserved exclusively for you.
2.5. Missed Lessons (Client): Lessons missed by the Client for any reason (including illness, school commitments, or holidays taken outside of our official closure dates) will not be refunded, credited, or rescheduled. Your fixed monthly fee reserves your time slot, regardless of attendance.
2.6. Missed Lessons (Instructor): In the rare event an instructor cancels a lesson, a make-up lesson will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time.
3.1. Lesson Fees (Fixed Monthly):
30-minute weekly slot: R600 per month.
1-hour weekly slot: R1200 per month.
3.2. Admin Fee (Once-Off): A non-refundable, once-off admin fee is payable upon registration to secure your time slot.
30-minute slot: R350
1-hour slot: R700
3.3. Fee Calculation: To ensure affordability and consistent budgeting, the total fee for all lessons in the year is calculated and divided into equal monthly payments.
Your monthly fee is fixed and does not change in months with 5 weeks or in months with fewer lessons due to public holidays or school closures.
Months containing 5 weeks serve as "bonus" lessons, offered at no additional charge, and are intended to offset lessons that fall on public holidays or during other closures.
3.4. Payment Due: The first month's lesson fee and the admin fee are due upon registration. Subsequent monthly fees are payable in advance, due on or before the 1st day of each month.
4.1. Securing a Time Slot: Your preferred time slot is only secured upon receipt of payment for both the once-off admin fee and the first month's lesson fee.
4.2. Proof of Payment: You must provide proof of payment at or before your first scheduled lesson.
5.1. Notice Requirement: To discontinue lessons, a minimum of one (1) full calendar month's written notice is required. (For example, if you wish to stop at the end of May, you must provide written notice at any time during April, but no later than April 30th).
5.2. November/December Restriction: Written notice cannot be given during the month of November.
5.3. Final Payment: If notice is given in October, lessons will conclude at the end of November. If notice is given at any point in November, you will still be liable for the full lesson fees for December. December lesson fees are always payable.
